I see you only joined Second Life yesterday, so you will have been given one of the new fitted mesh avatar and all new avatars that you see will likely still be wearing one of these new fitted mesh avatars.
There is a known problem with these avatars on AMD graphics cards with certain graphics settings - please see BUG-5156 for details.
One of the workarounds for this bug is going to Me -> Preferences -> Graphics -> Advanced and ticking "Advanced Lighting Model".
Unfortunately, because you are on Mac 10.6.8, you will not be able to tick this option.
So go to Me -> Preferences -> Graphics -> Advanced and untick "Hardware Skinning". This should stop the avatars rendering incorrectly.
Note that disabling Hardware Skinning can cause a performance drop on some systems and most mesh will look pretty ugly and have bad shading.
If you are still having problems with your own starter avatar rezzing, then please go to Me -> Choose an avatar -> Classics and select one of these avatars to wear it.
None of the avatars under the Classics section are affected by this bug and replacing your avatar once logged in should fix any clouding (unrezzed) issues you are having with your own avatar.
I would also advise you to update your operating system to Mavericks if you can. Mac 10.6.8 is no longer officially supported and you will get much better performance on Second Life if you update.
Steps to Reproduce
I just simply started the game up.
Actual Behavior
So I started it on my mac 10.6.8 and it said my clothes were still loading and that everyone would see me normally. well on my computer the avatars are glitched so that the body is a stretched out pic or something.
Expected Behavior
For the avatars to be normal
