The linked demo page at http://segmentio.github.io/sherlock-segment/demo.html doesn't appear to show anything.

It's not actually supposed to show anything. It's just a page that loads various services so you can check them out in the developer tools. Totally see why that's confusing though. We should add some text on the page indicating that :)

Was wondering if that was the case - yeah adding some text to the page would help. Is a page that contains just script tags even valid HTML..?

afaik, it is valid HTML5, as the <html> and <body> are implied. But yeah, definitely will add some more substance to that page to make it clear what the purpose is.
