Remove jQuery dependency #3652
Comments
I know that it's going to be changing, but deprecated? For what it's worth, this is something that has been on the roadmap for a while. Unfortunately, Select2 is a large project and removing the dependency on jQuery will take a while over the course of many pull requests. |
+1 for this suggestion. Select2 is the last JS plugin I need jQuery for, so it would be amazing to drop the dependency for it and focus on keeping select2 as slim & fast as possible without jQuery. Thanks again for the great job guys. Really appreciate it! |
Hi, are there any news on this subject? |
I'm all in for this... |
Just a suggestion. It is better for everyone to work on it bit by bit and submit merge requests. Slowly but surely it will be a no-dependencies component that everyone loves. |
@kevin-brown please can you lock this issue? There's 👍 reaction you can add to first post. |
Let's see a pull request. |
We don't have immediate plans to provide this. We are focused to fix some major UI bugs (that are majority of issues and PR's). But if you open a PR with unit tests, I will be glad to review and approve if everything is ok 👍 |
Since jQuery is going to be deprecated (for me and some others, it already is), I guess it's time to select2 be a standalone library instead of a jQuery plugin.
