I think that this logic is not correct either.

I followed the following tests and I could still reproduce the issue:

Add Asset Publisher Portlet and configure it to only display Message Board Messages and display view count as well.
Add Message Boards portlet.
Add a new thread.
Click in the thread to view it and go back several times (in order to increase the number of views.
The number of view in the Message Board portlet is increased but in Asset Publisher is not.

Can you please test this before submitting?
