generative text, taught by allison parrish

a class about computational poetry

  • use the UNIX command-line text processing tools to do something creative with some source text. use a non-poem as input, and make a “poem” as output.

i used different austrian election programs, and used "tr" to replace letters with whitespace, which resulted in different patterns of punctuation and numbers for each party. see all results here

what does its use of numbers and punctuation say about a political party (or its voters)?

    • this party (NEOS) uses the most numbers and '€'-symbols in their election program:

      neos

    • this party (FPÖ) uses the least punctuation out of all parties i compared:

      fpoe

recreating the past, taught by zach lieberman

in this class, we'll be recreating generative artworks by media art pioneers using code.

other experiments

  • face generator experiment

i'm wondering how i can best randomly generate faces with a wide range of emotions (w/o using colors & styling). (might turn into a bot eventually? idk) faces faces2
