This is one (and soon more) of the project templates I use, instead of default one's provided by Apple.

IB-free Project Templates

These project templates are XIB free.

• Window-based Application: A small and simple projec template. A quick way to get up and running, I use this for just about any app. Unlike the Apple provided template, there is no MainWindow.xib, as such there is no IBOutlet UIWindow ivar in the application delegate.

Installation Instructions

I put my customized Xcode project templates in ~/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Project Templates/Application and they appear in the Application templates under User Templates section.
