Android Auto forces Update

I am using a Pixel 5 with Android 11.

I reverted to version 6.3 and deactivated automatic updates but every time I connect my phone to the car it won't let me use the app without updating it.

I'm with a OnePlus 7 Pro (Android 11).

I also had this problem but I believe I worked around it. Allow AA to update, then check the version that was downloaded. Then download the 6.3 version that ends in the same last 2 digits. Mine ended in 34 and it worked.

Mine worked using the same method, updating and reverting to version 6.3 ending 34. But now for some reason AA is not recogised by my car, Peugeot 2008 2020. Had to update to latest AA version and loosing AAAD. So sad.

Same here after downgrading to 6.3, I get a message when plugging into my car to update android auto. And if I upgrade I'm back to the same issue (i.e loosing AAAD). I'm on android version 11

Did anyone find out what's the last working version that does NOT force you to update? I'm also curious at what level this force update functionality is implemented. Is it only Android Auto, or does it reach deeper into the system? Maybe a combination of the OS, and the installed version of Google Play Services/etc.? Really scary how we gradually lose control over our devices - Android is turning more and more into Windows. 😟
