Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before running the Movie Search App, make sure you have the following software installed:

  • Node.js (version 18.17.0 or higher)
  • npm (version 9.6.7 or higher)

Installation

Follow these steps to set up the project locally:

  1. Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/simeonmarkoski/movies-search-rdf-app.git
  1. Change directory:
cd movie-search-app
  1. Install dependencies:
npm install

Usage

To start the Movie Search App, run the following command:

npm start

This will launch the app on http://localhost:3000 in your web browser.

Use the search bar to look up movies, actors, or directors. Click on the search results to view detailed information about each entity. The app provides an interactive and engaging way to explore the world of movies and the people behind them.

Running the Server

The Movie Search App interacts with DBpedia to fetch data. To run the server that connects to DBpedia, use the following command:

node server.js

This will start the server on http://localhost:5000.

Please ensure that the server is running before using the app.

The Movie Search App retrieves information from DBpedia, a community-driven project that extracts structured content from Wikipedia and makes it available as a knowledge graph.
