Why did you join sktime's mentorship program?
My primary motivation to join sktime's mentorship program was to work on a project that holds depths in the sktime, and creates impact in the overall community being under the guidance of a mentor learning new things continuously. Previously my most of the work in open source was just surface level, and random without being in proper guidance.

What topics are you working on?

For the first month based on issue

  • Support polars mtypes
    • Series
    • Panel
    • Hierarchical
  • Add polars support to models from sklearn and nixtla

sktime/sktime#5423

What are your learning goals?
Learn about best practices when creating a package/toolbox like project structure, Designing of base class,CI testing and etc.
Have in depth knowledge of things working underneath in the overall machine learning and deep learning scenario.

What's next for you after the mentorship program?
Keep contributing to sktime, and be one of the mentors for the upcoming mentorship programme.
Apply for Full-time Machine Learning Engineer roles, and get selected in one.
