Automatic quiz generation system

Tools Used

  • Stanford CoreNLP
  • Alchemy Language REST API
  • Flask Python Server
  • AngularJS (for data binding and DOM manipulation in chrome extension)

Server endpoints

  • GET /jstest?=websiteURL

    Returns a sample JSON response, ignores the websiteURL.

  • GET /quizme?=websiteURL

    This is the main API call. Returns JSON encoded questions array (see below).

Running web server

To build, please have Java (1.6 and up), Gradle 2.0, and Flask installed. Navigate to the QuizGen directory and type gradle build.

To run, navigate to the QuizGen main directory, and use:

python QuizGenServer.py

Chrome extension installation

As this Chrome extension is unpackaged, you will need to enable Developer mode in your Chrome browser. To do this:

Chrome > Settings > Extensions > Check Developer mode box

Click Load unpacked extension > Browse to chromeext dir > Click OK

Usage

With the server running (python QuizGenServer.py), simply click the Chrome extension browser action button to the right of the address bar and prepare to be amazed...
