The design allows both, but I'm not sure what the difference is between them, and which is advantageous in what situation. Would you be able to clarify that?

Hi,
Our design use corexy for 2 XY motors setup. Hybrid corexy for IDEX and extended-corexy(mixed between corexy and hybrid corexy) for 4 motors setup.
