Why deprecated? #6
Comments
It was a while ago, but tl;dr: I tried rolling out this library in some key
places, a bunch of people complained loudly about the type safety
headaches, and so I rolled it back.

*why* it is deprecated? Did you end up deciding it was a bad idea for
there to be an ASCII package, or is there another package that you now
recommend instead? If you Google for "haskell ascii", this package turns
up, so it would be great if it could serve as a signpost to point people in
the right direction.

I see. Would you be open to handing over ownership? I'd love for Haskell to have a great ASCII library. |
No problem. What's your Hackage name? I'll also take a PR replacing this
repo with a README.md to point to your new repo.

I'm |
I've made you a maintainer on Hackage. Good luck! |
Thanks! |
@chris-martin it's still marked as deprecated on Hackage. Is it ever going to be un-deprecated? |
I do have code I want to publish here! I just need to find a little more time to get it ready. |
@chris-martin how can I help? Happy to review and/or test. |
Sorry it took so long, new |
@chris-martin this is a beautiful library. I look forward to playing with it in https://hackage.haskell.org/package/purebred-email. One request: a case-insensitive I note you re-export |
@frasertweedale Thanks! 😄 I opened some new issues to discuss. |
Hello @snoyberg, I see that this package is now flagged on Hackage as deprecated - I am wondering if you could please document for posterity why it is deprecated?
