Hello @snoyberg, I see that this package is now flagged on Hackage as deprecated - I am wondering if you could please document for posterity why it is deprecated? Did you end up deciding it was a bad idea for there to be an ASCII package, or is there another package that you now recommend instead? If you Google for "haskell ascii", this package turns up, so it would be great if it could serve as a signpost to point people in the right direction.

I see. Would you be open to handing over ownership? I'd love for Haskell to have a great ASCII library.

@chris-martin it's still marked as deprecated on Hackage. Is it ever going to be un-deprecated?

I do have code I want to publish here! I just need to find a little more time to get it ready.

@chris-martin how can I help? Happy to review and/or test.

Sorry it took so long, new ascii package is uploaded! Love to know what y'all think.

@chris-martin this is a beautiful library. I look forward to playing with it in https://hackage.haskell.org/package/purebred-email.

One request: a case-insensitive FoldCase instance for ASCII where the superset type also has it.

I note you re-export Data.ASCII presumably for backwards compat, having moved the old ascii package to data-ascii. But data-ascii is still marked as deprecated, so what is the intention going forward with these modules? It would be nice to drop eventually, and do away with uneeded dependencies.

@frasertweedale Thanks! 😄 I opened some new issues to discuss.
