The :* register is supported by the Vim which has +clipboard enabled in it. Vim needs to be installed using vim-gnome

The callback for the exit is made conditional depending upon from where the edit command is called , i.e from edit.pike or from inside the steam-shell.pike. The exit is then done accordingly taking into consideration the function call.
