Classifications of licenses at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.en.html

  • Free licenses, compatible with the GNU GPL
  • Free licenses, compatible with the FDL
  • Free licenses, incompatible with the GNU GPL and FDL
  • Nonfree licenses
  • Licenses for works stating a viewpoint

Perhaps this issue should be merged to another repository? Which one @goneall ?

Yeah, AFAIK all the licenses are already here and that data is included in the tags. @goneall would know where this should go.

The FSF-API should all the licenses and tags since it scrapes the information from the referenced website.

There are, however, several licenses in the FSF website that do not have corresponding SPDX licenses so the tag information will not be available on the spdx.org/licenses site.

The SPDX community would be open to and appreciate submitting any missing licenses.

If the intent of this issue is to add the SPDX license ID, I would suggest moving this issue to the License-List-XML repo.
