Sample - menu is lost after rotation

The "FRIENDS" menu item disappears if you rotate the display (doesn't matter on which app screen you are).

As far as I can see:

• After the app is first started, the "ConversationList" screen has the "Friends" menu item - this will survive an orientation change.
• The menu item stays visible if I go on to "Conversation", but on that screen it will disappear after orientation change.
• It will also disappear if I continue to "Message", and if I go back to "Conversation" it will stay hidden. It also stays hidden if I continue backwards to "ConversationList" - but it will then re-appear after an orientation change.
