See this question and the missing feature ticket in Thymeleaf. We could register a special bean in the ApplicationContext so that people can use #salespointDates.format(…) but with JDK 8 date/time types.

I think it's better we wait for the release of the relevant Thymeleaf module which shouldn't be too far away. See thymeleaf/thymeleaf#302.
