Conditional styling in modules?

Hi,
I just started trying out starship and is trying customize my prompt to look something like powerlevel10k zsh theme.
i am almost done but there seems to be an issue with the chevrons, the yellow segment is for git and should be only visible when within a git repo, but a small yellow area can be seen from the prompt even when not within a repo

i have looked into the the starship config and is now wondering if it is possible to fix this issue?

ideally i want the yellow segment to be invisible completely

but from my understanding of the documentation it is not possible to conditionally apply style to a module
am i missing something or is there a workaround?

so found out the solution, turns out i can use backspace (\b)

Thanks. I have been working on this for hours back when I asked that question, but got something working:

Unfortunately there are a few things that just do not work properly, because it is not possible to work with conditional backreferences. Anyway, I am mostly happy with my setup now.

It's because starship doesn't have any context about previous and next components. So, I basically decided to switch back to powerline-rs, but I rewrote some basic things like added support for different separator characters and what's more important added support for 24-bit color (it only supported 8-bit ansi before). And now my term looks like this (all things work fine, but I want to completely rewrite powerline-rs, add more features and better configuration):

I am not sure, whether I can use powerline-rs. I am also using atuin with bash, which either requires pre-exec or ble.sh

Powerline-rs supports bash and atuin just a replacement for a history, so it should be fine. In any case, I see that you're trying to get rid of these blank components, so it might be worth trying to use powerline-rs + as a minor improvement your shell will be a bit faster. Just download a binary from original repo and try it out, it should take you less than 5 mins (download binary + call powerline in bashrc) to setup a basic configuration
