Why?

  • performance increase
  • unlocks 64 bit applications
  • GHC has official support for it which will improve build system workflows

While we are on aarch64 kernel side, the raspberry pi foundation has not yet released a 64 bit userland, leading to unusable 64 bit applications

We have reverted to 32bit kernel due to c-lightning doing pointer math based off of the kernel arch.
