Installing a new StCR release.

Many times you report an issue and I take care of them, but then you have to wait until the release of the update is available on WordPress to test those changes.

On this KB section I will explain you how to download a new software releases and replace your current version.

StCR Pre Release folder

our target is the subscribe-to-comments-reloaded folder, inside is the plugin files.

  • Now you need to replace the files in your WordPress with this new one. For this purpose deactivate StCR on the plugins administration page. Once you deactivate the plugin you are ready to upload the new files. Deactivate Plugin
  • Connect to your server via FTP and go to the plugins folder. Delete the subscribe-to-comments-reloaded folder.

Plugin Folders at WordPress

  • Upload the new folder
  • Activate Subscribe to Comments Again and check the version. Activate Plugin

By this point you should have the new version of StCR and you are ready to start testing. Please feedback any issue that you find.

Create a Real Management Page.

Depending on what other plugins you are using, you may need to manually create a real page in Wordpress, that the StCR plugin will use as its public "management" page. In order to create the page, follow these steps:

  • Make a copy of your template's page.php see number 1, and renamed it like subscribe.php, see number 2

Creating Template

  • Open it with notepad and add the following code at the very beginning (4):
<?php
/* Template Name: Subscribe To Comments */
if (isset($wp_subscribe_reloaded)){ global $posts; $posts = $wp_subscribe_reloaded->stcr->subscribe_reloaded_manage(); }
?>

Adding StCR code

  • Set the corresponding option under Settings > Subscribe to Comments > Management Page > Virtual Management Page to Disabled(5).

Disable Virtual Page

  • Create a new page in wordpress and choose the template you created earlier in this process from the dropdown menu (6);

Creating Page from Template the permalink (8) of this page should match what you have in the corresponding option, in the StCR plugin.

Permalink Structure

  • Make sure that if you have the Manage URL to /?page_id=999999 Change it to your new created page ID, or if you use a different permalink to that name. On this example our Permalink structure is the Category (9) that we will name it manage-subscriptions and the page name (10)

Permalink Structure on StCR

  • You can see in your page the link with the new created URL (10 & 11).

StCR link

  • Link on the browser (12)

Manage subscription Real Page

If you follow this steps you should be able to add StCR to any WordPress Theme. If you find a bug on this Wiki Article we are happy to hear from you.
