Our Knowledge Page(KB) page includes information to walk you through the plugin settings and stuff.

  1. Installing a new StCR release.
  2. Updating StCR.
  3. Create a Real Management Page.
  4. StCR Clickable Links.
  5. StCR Management Message.

Many times you report an issue and I take care of them, but then you have to wait until the release of the update is available on WordPress to test those changes.

On this KB section I will explain you how to download a new software releases and replace your current version.

StCR Pre Release folder

our target is the subscribe-to-comments-reloaded folder, inside is the plugin files.

  • Now you need to replace the files in your WordPress with this new one. For this purpose deactivate StCR on the plugins administration page. Once you deactivate the plugin you are ready to upload the new files. Deactivate Plugin
  • Connect to your server via FTP and go to the plugins folder. Delete the subscribe-to-comments-reloaded folder.

Plugin Folders at WordPress

  • Upload the new folder
  • Activate Subscribe to Comments Again and check the version. Activate Plugin

By this point you should have the new version of StCR and you are ready to start testing. Please feedback any issue that you find.

Depending on your theme or on what other plugins you are using, you may get a "404" (page missing) error message when trying to manage subscriptions to a post. To work around this, you'll need to create an actual page with the expected permalink path. Follow these steps:

  • Go to WP Admin > StCR > Management Page.
  • Set “Virtual management page” to “No” and save changes. Note the value in the Management URL field, which by default is "/comment-subscriptions/". Disable Virtual Page
  • Go to WP admin > Pages > Add New and create a page called “Comment subscriptions”, the permalink should be comment-subscriptions (or whatever you have specified in the StCR settings).
  • As the content of that page just add the shortcode [stcr_management_page]
  • You can see the page URL and test the new management page by trying to subscribe to a post (10 & 11).

StCR link

  • Link on the browser (12)

Manage subscription Real Page

If you follow these steps you should be able to add StCR to any WordPress Theme. If this didn't work for you, please check the permalink structure in your WordPress dashboard's Settings - Permalinks page. You may need to edit the Management URL in the StCR settings page to correspond to the syntax used by your website.
