@jouvin this does a lot more then onlyh removing teh dependency. it now requires systemd.

@stdweird it is the goal! I'll update the title. You cannot remove the dependency without relying on systemd. Is it a problem for you?

i don't care, we have 0 hosts that don't have systemd. but can't speak for the community. maybe you need to add a config_chkconfig.pan that locks the version to the latest release that still has chkconfig, so people can easily lock if they don't have systemd yet.

I sent an email to the Quattor list, don't know if you saw it, asking if everybody had a problem with dropping EL6 compatibility in next Quattor release. The only response was from Jerome who said he was ok. I suspect nobody requires the next Quattor version to support an OS version as obsolete as EL6. It doesn't prevent managing EL6 systems with 23.6.0 and should not be a problem as an EL6 box probably has a frozen configuration...

My choice in the PRs I made for ncm-cdispd and cdp-listend is really to drop the support of non systemd OS versions... Create too much complexity and a nightmare in recent OS versions like EL9...
