Arch on HP zbook G5

Notes on installing Arch on the HP Zbook G5.

Arch works fine on the HP Book and its associated dock.

Base install

Follow basic install guide as usual.

The arch wiki has gained a dedicated page for the zbook G5 recently, which notes most everything important to do in addition to a base install.

I used grub, be sure to have GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet nvidia-drm.modeset=1 in /etc/default/grub else no boot for you. If you forget this manually add it to the grub boot config, boot and add it to default, then run grub-mkconfig again.

I use i3-gaps and Xorg, started with gdm and compiz as compositor. The Nvidia Geforce P2000 works fine with the propriety Nvidia drivers.

Post Install

Post-install is ansible driven as usual: https://github.com/sthysel/ansible-klipwerf the G5 is twinks.
