Dragging sidebar open files like tabs (to other windows)

I use the sidebar and display the open tabs in it. As a result I don't need the tabs above and disabled these. However, without the tabs I am unable to drag views between multiple windows or create new windows by dragging them to empty space. I think this is some kind of inconsitency and I'd really like to be able to use this feature without having the tabs shown.
