v0.8.0 Release Notes

It's time to put together the release notes for v0.8. Some highlights (not an exhaustive list):

• New route-agent plugin framework, kube-proxy iptables driver (Route Agent Kubeproxy iptables driver submariner#946)
• Initial support for OVNKubernetes CNI (Implement the OVNKubernetes handler for the np syncer submariner#943)
• Operator SDK v1 (build: update operator-sdk to v1.0 submariner-operator#724)
• CRDs v1 (build: migrate the CRDs to v1 submariner-operator#789)
• Migration to MCS API/deprecation of Lighthouse specific CRDs (Use the MCS SIG APIs instead of our own submariner-operator#767, Deprecate and cleanup multiclusterservices CRD lighthouse#216, Change subctl export to use mcs-api submariner-operator#798)
• Gateway helthcheck (Route Agent Kubeproxy iptables driver submariner#946)
• Libreswan connection metrics (Add connection metrics and track from Libreswan cable driver submariner#942)
• Broker resiliency work (Document behavior when the Broker is unavailable #370)
• Lighthouse: prefer local cluster over remote (Lighthouse: prefer the local cluster first, before routing to other remote clusters lighthouse#331)
• Libreswan cable-driver now the default (Use Libreswan by default submariner#972)
• subctl benchmark verbose (Subctl benchmark - add verbose option submariner-operator#766)
• subctl --image-override (feat: add image-override flag to subctl command submariner-operator#869)
• Helm v3 (Switch to Helm v3 submariner-charts#87)
• Globalnet w/ OpenShift: exclude openshift-dns and openshift-monitoring namespeces (Exclude openshift-dns namespace in Globalnet submariner-operator#845, Exclude openshift-monitoring namespace in Globalnet submariner-operator#783)
• v0.7 to v0.8 upgrades, need a note about converting exported MCS services (Epic: Handle upgrades submariner-operator#746)
