Metadata decoding failed due to weight change #130

Describe the bug
Our process lost connection and failed to restart due to the weights v2 Substrate change.

Expected behavior
Metadata decoding should be dynamic so this should not have caused the process to exit.

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • @subsquid/scale-codec@0.4.2

Applicable to decoding issues:

  • Running v.1.19.0 on Kintsugi (doesn't include polkadot-v0.9.29)
  • Upgrade scheduled at block 15063893 on Kusama (v1.19.1 - includes weight change)
  • Upgrade applied at block 1758928 on Kintsugi
  • Squid loses connection at 1820147, decoding metadata fails on restart here

Additional context
The weight type was fixed in the latest scale-codec package but I am aware this type is expected to change again so I am hoping that this doesn't require any additional manual changes.

Hey can you please elaborate on your setup? Are you talking about substrate-processor or substrate-ingest? Note that the support of pre-FireSquid versions (0.x) has been discontinued and we recommend upgrading to the latest subsquid/substrate-processor:2.0.1
