Hunger is a viable problem to stray animals as well, especially because of lockdowns during Covid-19. During the pandemic, a lot of stray animals around our neighbourhood was underfed. As much as we try to fill the water and food cups around our houses, a lot of us was unable to spot other feeding stations that those animals were used to feed. That number got drastically high in industrial cities where people could not give attention to feeding cups on a daily basis. Especially around Europe, thousands of stray animals face starvation.
#Our Solution PetCare tracks the nearest feeding stations and their last feed date. We also record the animals in need, whether they need to be checked during time to see if they got any better or to highlight the animals that needs urgent care in times where the people found them has no opportunity to help at that time.
When you want to feed them instead of dropping leftover foods near a garbage, you can check the nearest feeding station and it's last fed time to equally distribute the food among animals. We notify users about feeding stations when they remained unfed for a while and also gather information about the approximate number of animals that's been feeding there to know how long that station could stay after the last feeding time.
- Our design section includes few extra features than our implementation. We'd liked to keep it simple to put our basic futures in use as soon as possible. As an example to extra futures, when registering an emergency log for an animal, you can state if that animal is needing Time, meaning that someone needs to check them in order to see if they're doing better, or needing Care, meaning that animal needs to see a Vet and you could not drop them at that moment.
You can check the fully designed app in Artboards folder. Here's the login and home screens:
- After you sign in you'll be welcomed with a map that shows the nearest health issues and feeding stations to your location.
- Then by clicking any point in map or tapping the feed or help button in the scroll menu, you can record the stations you fed or you can help an animal.
- You can easily see the last feed time and feed that stations from that card.
- Profile section will be improved in the future
- In feedlog, you can add a new feeding station and state what that station's for. You also need to enter the number of animals feeding from that station for us to notify you by the time that station needs refreshment.
- In helplog section you can describe the animal in need an even add a picture of them for future helpers to recognize them better.
- You can see the nearest 20 animals in Search tab
- You can view and feed or help to anytime. When you help an animal that means that they're no longer needing any help and the health issue is closed.
