Yes, but you can't use the ingame registration, because it requires a registration server that no longer exists. Register like described in the readme:

You can register the binaries by putting the registration file in the binaries folder into this folder:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\TribalTrouble
Windows Vista or newer: C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble
Mac OS X: Library/Application Support/TribalTrouble/
Linux: ~/.TribalTrouble/

Right click on this link at choose "Save as":
https://github.com/sunenielsen/tribaltrouble/blob/master/binaries/registration

Then save it in C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble
where "username" is replaced by whatever username you are using on your computer.

I've tried many times and think I messed it up. I tried to extract all the files with what u said to do and it would just bring up the demo and it wont update or anything. I do appreciate you taking your time to help me though.

You have to install and run the game first. Then you save the registration file into the folder (which should already exists, or you are looking in the wrong place). When the registration is placed in the correct folder, the game will be unlocked.

I don't think I can give clearer instructions, so if you are still having problems with it, maybe you know someone that can help you.

That would require exactly the same work from you - and more. I'm afraid I don't know how to help you more than I have. All I can say is that you should install the game, download the registration file, and put it in the folder i told you. If you are not able to do this, then maybe you know someone who can help you while sitting at your computer.

I'm the owner of Oddlabs and one of the developers. I'm not working on the game anymore. It has been open sourced because we do not wish to spend any more time on it.

u said setting up a server is a lot more complex, and not something we have done in many years. It will take some work to get it working, but try looking at the server folder and see if you can figure it out. At the very least, you should know a bit about setting up a MySQL server.

i really want make a server......private.....for playing with my family....is there any way.....

I'm sorry, but it is far too complex to set up a server for me to give instructions here. Regarding the purchase from Arcade Town, you could try asking for a refund. I will contact them (again) to have them take down the game.

It should actually be "~/Application Support", I think, as it needs to be the "Application Support" folder in your user's home directory --

i.e., for me, my user name being "Orymedia", it was in "/Users/Orymedia/Library/Application Support/TribalTrouble/"

I put it in there and it worked fine for me on Mac OS 10.5.8 on my PPC G5. Apparently it's a Universal Binary, yay. : )

You'll know it's working, because when you launch the program, the "register" item is not even on the main menu anymore.

also, watch that file download link sune put up there .. if you "save target" on it, you'll just get an HTML file. You actually need to go to the resulting page and download the "raw" binary from there.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us all! So nice to be able to have some nice games that still work on my PPC.

Perhaps these screenshots can help you find the correct folder on Mac?

I actually put the registration file on C:Users\Username\Tribal Trouble. What I mean is that you have to put it in the tribal trouble folder DIRECTLY in order for it to work. And this is on PC Windows 8.1. I'm pretty sure it can work on previous Windows too, like Windows 7, and vista (I'm not sure about XP). Hope this information work.

So this is where the registration file goes in.

As stated on the front page: The source is released "as is", and Oddlabs will not be available for help building it, modifying it or any other kind of support.

It is simply too complex to help people with this. We released the source so other developers could benefit from it, as we have benefited from other open source projects.

No, because it is not just a simple change. It might be just a single line of code, but in order to build the source to an executable, you need extensive knowledge of several development tools, and a complicated setup on your computer.

UPDATE:

Hey guys, after being a total novice yesterday and trying to figure out how to get the registration file to work on my computer (HP Windows 10), I figured it out.

  1. Like the prompt up above states, download the open source Tribal Trouble, which on Windows 10 would be "TribalTroubleSetup.exe".

  2. Once downloaded, install and run Tribal Trouble to make sure the game loads.

  3. When done with that, download sunenielsen's link (https://github.com/sunenielsen/tribaltrouble/blob/master/binaries/registration). When you download this file, MAKE SURE IT'S BEING DOWNLOADED AND SAVED AS A FILE, NOT .txt !!!!!

  4. When you're done downloading the registration file and you've made sure it's saved as a file (under "Type" it should say "file"), right click and copy the registration file.

  5. When you've copied the registration file, click into your File Explorer. Go to This PC --> Windows (C:) --> Users --> Username (your personal username will be there) --> and then a list with .javasvn, Contacts, Desktop, Documents, etc will be there. There's a good 15 files in that folder. Just go to the bottom, right click and click "paste." This should paste the registration file into your folder.

  6. Still with me? Just to be safe and make sure this works, press the back arrow twice. It will bring you back to your main Windows (C:) Folder. Click on Program Files (x86), find the Tribal Trouble folder, click on it. Once your inside that folder, you'll see a list of files that include (.gamedata, uninstall, loader, DUMMY_FILE_FOR_HG, BuyNow, Manual, etc.) See what I mean? Just paste your registration folder so that it is in this folder as well. It doesn't matter that you pasted it in two places, it won't screw up anything.

  7. Alright, almost there. Exit out of everything and go to your desktop. Open up Tribal Trouble and it should work. If the "Register" option is still on the menu, click it. If it says something stupid like "Can't register at this time" or whatever, just exit out of Tribal Trouble and try again. If it still doesn't work, you're SOL because you messed up somewhere and I provided you with pretty simple instructions.

  8. Enjoy! It worked for me on 03/10/2017. It should work for you. If I was able to figure this out, so can you.

ALSO, there's a Tribal Trouble Remastered being made as we speak with some new graphics, new additives, and new stuff so if you're into that, find them on facebook! They're looking for developers and testers at the moment as the game is only in its Beta and Alpha stages. Worth checking into!

IMPORTANT - HELP

Hi to everyone,
I've a Mac (Yosemite 10.10).
I've a singular problem that doesn't permit me to play the full version of the game (here in the comment section nobody solves this problem).

Following the instruction:
Put the binaries in: Library/Application Support/TribalTrouble/;
The problem is that the folder 'Tribal Trouble' doesn't exist (I've tried to search it everywhere around the Application Support folder and also outside but never found!)

The first time you open the .dmg file containing the game (demo version) and running the game for the first time, it should compare the folder (Tribal Trouble in Application Support), as I watched in many videos around YouTube and also as 'sunenielsen' (the creator) said; but in my case this doesn't happen!

Trying to create manually the folder named Tribal Trouble in Application Support and paste the binaries with registration of the full game in it, nothing changes (this because you have to put files in an already existing folder that in my case doesn't exist or I'm unable to find)

So, if someone is able to help me with this problem I would be very grateful :)

p.s : maybe the problem it's easier that it looks but considering my lacking informatic knowledge it's understandable (a little bit)!

Thank you preventively!

Hi, I'm having a problem registering the game, I had to compile it in Linux because the binaries are 32 bits and I'm using a 64 bits OS that doesn't have support for 32 bits Java, now I don't know where I have to paste the registration file because I have to run the game using ant run in /tribaltrouble-master/tt. If I put it in /home/user/.TribalTrouble it doesn't work.

I'm using Manjaro Xfce 64 bits and sorry for my bad English.

If you build the game from source, you're also going to need the registration public key, which is supposed to live in common/static.

I extracted it from the TribalTroubleSetup.sh installer, and placed it in tt/static in my repo. That path is more convenient for working under Eclipse.
