@slick2003

if you have the downloaded version cant you still install your registration code ?

@slick2003

because im just one of the old players from the game and would just like to play the campaign and play hard computers on large lands lol

Yes, but you can't use the ingame registration, because it requires a registration server that no longer exists. Register like described in the readme:

You can register the binaries by putting the registration file in the binaries folder into this folder:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\TribalTrouble
Windows Vista or newer: C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble
Mac OS X: Library/Application Support/TribalTrouble/
Linux: ~/.TribalTrouble/

@slick2003

well see im not that smart as you say about messing with files like that . is there a way I can get this explained to me ?

@sunenielsen

Right click on this link at choose "Save as":
https://github.com/sunenielsen/tribaltrouble/blob/master/binaries/registration

Then save it in C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble
where "username" is replaced by whatever username you are using on your computer.

@slick2003

when I right clicked that link u put there it said save target as and I did and I put it in the binaries and then I tried to install it and all it did was bring me back up to the demo version

@slick2003

I've tried many times and think I messed it up. I tried to extract all the files with what u said to do and it would just bring up the demo and it wont update or anything. I do appreciate you taking your time to help me though.

@slick2003

and it says somin about a htmp 404

You have to install and run the game first. Then you save the registration file into the folder (which should already exists, or you are looking in the wrong place). When the registration is placed in the correct folder, the game will be unlocked.

I don't think I can give clearer instructions, so if you are still having problems with it, maybe you know someone that can help you.

@slick2003

what folder should I put the registration file into ?

@slick2003

in the binaries ?

@sunenielsen
Owner

Put it in C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble\

@slick2003

well its not sayin its 404 , its just saying theres a problem with registration

@slick2003

isn't there a way u can send me the game file like threw Skype or something like that since u have the full thing ? like send me a copy link from Skype ? I just really want to play that game you know . im 19 and it would be cool to go back to my 15-17 year old memory's with the game . Like Tribal troubles been apart of my life . I would restore it if I was smart enough so everyone can play with each other agian

@sunenielsen

That would require exactly the same work from you - and more. I'm afraid I don't know how to help you more than I have. All I can say is that you should install the game, download the registration file, and put it in the folder i told you. If you are not able to do this, then maybe you know someone who can help you while sitting at your computer.

@slick2003

well do you play the game ? or are u just trying to help make it

I'm the owner of Oddlabs and one of the developers. I'm not working on the game anymore. It has been open sourced because we do not wish to spend any more time on it.

thanks sunenielsen.....how can set up a private server...i mean....LAN.....so i can play with my nephews.....

@madamie
madamie commented on 764a309 May 3, 2015

u said setting up a server is a lot more complex, and not something we have done in many years. It will take some work to get it working, but try looking at the server folder and see if you can figure it out. At the very least, you should know a bit about setting up a MySQL server.

i really want make a server......private.....for playing with my family....is there any way.....

@madamie
madamie commented on 764a309 May 3, 2015

actually i bought TT at arcadetown about 4 months ago.......i tought this game still working...after i bought it.....it not working to register...even to play full version its not working......also the basic tutorial game not working also.....i just wasting my money...but it more worth if u can tell me how can i build a private server...

@sunenielsen

I'm sorry, but it is far too complex to set up a server for me to give instructions here. Regarding the purchase from Arcade Town, you could try asking for a refund. I will contact them (again) to have them take down the game.

@madamie
madamie commented on 764a309 May 3, 2015

okay....but how can i ask them.....how need i proof it that the game already closed...?

@madamie
madamie commented on 764a309 May 3, 2015

@madamie
madamie commented on 764a309 May 3, 2015

I do not know what procedure they use at Arcade Town.

ouh okay nvm....thanks....

@carsonkeaton

my mac laptop does not have application support, is there any way around that?

@dubaaron

It should actually be "~/Application Support", I think, as it needs to be the "Application Support" folder in your user's home directory --

i.e., for me, my user name being "Orymedia", it was in "/Users/Orymedia/Library/Application Support/TribalTrouble/"

I put it in there and it worked fine for me on Mac OS 10.5.8 on my PPC G5. Apparently it's a Universal Binary, yay. : )

You'll know it's working, because when you launch the program, the "register" item is not even on the main menu anymore.

also, watch that file download link sune put up there .. if you "save target" on it, you'll just get an HTML file. You actually need to go to the resulting page and download the "raw" binary from there.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us all! So nice to be able to have some nice games that still work on my PPC.

Perhaps these screenshots can help you find the correct folder on Mac?

@kight78963

I actually put the registration file on C:Users\Username\Tribal Trouble. What I mean is that you have to put it in the tribal trouble folder DIRECTLY in order for it to work. And this is on PC Windows 8.1. I'm pretty sure it can work on previous Windows too, like Windows 7, and vista (I'm not sure about XP). Hope this information work.
ate_9984

So this is where the registration file goes in.

Hey, sunenielsen! Can you please tell me/us how to change the game colour? I really like the game, but what I dislike is the Player 1 Colour. Is there a way to change it ;/? Thanks, anyway.

@sunenielsen
Owner

As stated on the front page: The source is released "as is", and Oddlabs will not be available for help building it, modifying it or any other kind of support.

It is simply too complex to help people with this. We released the source so other developers could benefit from it, as we have benefited from other open source projects.

@sn0ry
sn0ry commented on 764a309 Aug 4, 2015

So you won't be able to tell us how to change the color, at least? ;c

@sunenielsen
Owner

No, because it is not just a simple change. It might be just a single line of code, but in order to build the source to an executable, you need extensive knowledge of several development tools, and a complicated setup on your computer.

@monar424

i wander what happened to the tribal trouble 2 game

@Tszaluok

hey, if anyone else is still here and able to comment, does anyone know how to change the population limit from 200 to a higher number?

@team-penguin
@XxXKroseXxX

Does it need anything extra for it to work on win10 ?

@veslav3

Nope. You can put the license in a folder location and it should work. I don't remember where it was again.

@XxXKroseXxX

Could not manage to open the game registered but it was good to see this game again.

@veslav3

I'm working on a remastered version with someone who contacted me. Keep an eye out for that one.

@XxXKroseXxX

Is there anyone who can help me to run the game full on win10 ? I quess Im just too dumb .
