I was surprised to see that 'any' function didn't work with the latest standard gem, even though it's documented on the project's main site.

Then I noticed the gem hasn't been repackaged since May (?), so the function was simply missing.

Temp workaround:

gem 'sunspot_rails', '~> 2.1.1'

gem 'sunspot_rails', github: 'sunspot/sunspot'

+1 it's very confusing to read the doc for master when the last released version is so old and there are so many differences (any, join syntax etc).

This repository seems dead :(
Someone should fork it and find new maintainers ...
