Please note: SuperCollider 3.12.0+ runs fine on Apple M1 chip under Rosetta, i.e. in emulated mode.
This is a general support ticket for building and running SuperCollider natively on Apple M1 chips.
Known issues:
Qt5 on M1 does not ship with QtWebEngine, and thus SC can currently be built only with the WebEngine disabled. This should be solved once we upgrade to Qt 6 Qt 5.15.5 in homebrew now comes with the WebEngine available for M1.
Even after successful build, the binary compiled using cmake won't run, likely due to an issue with codesigning.@dyfer has managed to run SC natively by manually signing all the components after build see Codesigning issues on macOS with M1 (ARM64) processors #5603
SC can be still built and run in XCode, after generating the project using cmake FIXED
For reference:
Currently, building SC on M1 works, but without the QtWebEngine (== help browser).
When configuring cmake specify -DSC_USE_QTWEBENGINE=OFF, e.g.: cmake -GXcode -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=brew --prefix qt -DSC_USE_QTWEBENGINE=OFF .. At this time we do not offer M1 builds for download.
