Welcome to Pokémon Emerald Tourmaline edition, a romhack by surskitty. Please report any issues through the Issues section or by messaging surskitty on PokeCommunity.

Tourmaline is a doubles hack with expanded Pokémon. Tourmaline is not a hard mode hack. While difficulty has been increased with the expectation you are familiar with Pokémon, you should not need to effort train, grind, or otherwise treat this like this game intends on kicking your ass. If you are having trouble at any point and you have tried Knock Off or Thief, please report that as that is a tuning issue.

Tourmaline takes significant advantage of RH Hideout's PokeEmerald Expansion, which is to say that moves and items are meant to be up to a gen 8 standard, and the Pokédex contains a selection of Pokémon from gens 1 to 8.

General Tips

  • DO NOT TRAVEL WITH ONLY ONE POKEMON ABLE TO BATTLE IN YOUR PARTY. Please return to the Pokemon Center and heal up, or use Revives. This can under certain conditions crash your game. The gen 3 engine can't handle 1v2 battles and this has not been fixed yet.
  • All Pokémon Centers contain a move reminder. This includes the Oldale Town one immediately after getting your Eevee.
  • In Fallarbor and Lilycove, there are houses containing a Move Deleter and a Move Tutor who can teach egg moves and moves you're underleveled for.
  • Many trainers use hold items. Steal them.
  • The Flying Taxi has a cabbie in most major cities.
  • If your Pokémon has the wrong ability, you can buy Ability Capsules and Ability Patches in Slateport City.
  • Look for Feebas under the bridge.
  • Glaceon is the only ice type available until Shoal Cave. Hoenn is warm.
  • Mirage Island is accessible when (ROT13) gur pheerag ubhe vf cevzr.

Known Issues

  • The egg move tutor doesn't actually work at the moment.
  • Pincurchin is lacking some images.
  • Graphical errors in Surge abilities.

Nuzlocke Tips

  • Those Ability Capsules and Ability Patches? Use them.
  • Do the Trick House before challenging the Petalburg Gym. You need the TM. Use that TM. Norman's team is pretty nasty.
