Mitchell, Sara McLaughlin and Jonn A. Vasquez (eds). 2021. What Do We Know About War. Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield.
Vasquez, John A. 2009. The War Puzzle Revisited. New York, NY: Cambridge University Press.
I list this book as "recommended reading" despite the fact the book will be "required" for the sake of the research paper. I recommend two options toward obtaining this book instead of overpaying for it at the Clemson University bookstore. One, the library has this available as a PASCAL eBook. Click that link and connect with your Clemson username and password to read the book online. You can even download some chapters as PDFs too. Those, like me, who still enjoy books in hard copy should get the book on Amazon. Amazon will be cheaper than the Clemson University bookstore and it has two-day shipping for students.
The following documents outline expectations for the "Steps to War" paper due at the end of the semester. An additional document describing most of the wars is available on Canvas.
Students must read the following documents in the first week of class. These outline my expectations for the rest of the semester.
- Taking Good Notes
- Set Up Google Scholar to Find Class Readings on Your Syllabus
- Dos and Dont's of Writing for Students
- Assorted Tips for Students on Writing Research Papers
- Exam Grading Policy
- Fun with Attendance and Grades (i.e. Students Should Attend Class)
- The Educational Power of Discomfort
- Everybody Writes: A Web Content Approach for Students
- Put Your Laptops Away, Kids (Vol. 2)
- Reading a Regression Table: A Guide for Students
