  • Sway Version:

    • sway version 1.8.1
  • Debug Log:

  • Configuration File:

    • default configuration
  • Description:

    • Launch sway with sway -d 2> ~/sway.log
    • Start some Windows.
    • Move windows to various workspace.
    • Click inside window and move through workspace using waybar.
    • Trigger the bug by closing the lid once to lock computer, wake it and unlock, then close lid again (This is one reliable but not exclusive way to trigger the bug, it happens sporadically at system start, after sleep, after long times of lock, sometimes out of nowhere ...)
    • Click again inside windows and try to move through workspace using waybar but to no avail : Clicks not responding, can't move through workspace using waybar, hovering over broswer tabs or waybar workspace number not triggering UI changes (highlight, shadow ...)
    • Solve the bug by closing the lid once to lock computer, wake it and unlock, then close lid again (This is the only reliable way I found to stop the bug)
    • Kill sway

As stated above, the bug basically makes sway nearly unusable : it won't respond to mouse clicks and hovers ( Sometimes click only work in currently focused window, but not hovering), won't move through workspaces ( works with shortcuts), focus don't follow mouse when having multiple windows in same workspace (Although can switch using shortcuts, then only the focused window accepts clicks), touchpad double finger tap not working, ....
This bug is sporadically triggered, known triggers I could state (Although they don't trigger it reliably, they sometimes don't) : Sleeping when lid closed, long locking periods, launching new windows, ...

what applications are running when you experience this issue?

There aren't any specific application that triggers this, there could be none, but my usual usage is either firefox or kitty. And that's what's bothering me, that I couldn't figure out the triggers.
