LaTeX mode isn't loading yas snippets and drops autocomplete

I don't have much more info - i'm opening this because I never hear back on the chat and I'm curious if anyone else has had similar issues.

Yas just doesn't do anything for latex mode though it works in others.

Autocomplete stops working frequently in latex mode

I get this error in a blank file

Search failed. This means there is unmatched expression somewhere or we are at the beginning/end of file. [2 times]
