I just noticed that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SymPy is a little old with its information. None of it is wrong, but I think the features list could be updated. It seems to be roughly the same as the features listed at sympy.org and http://code.google.com/p/sympy/ , so perhaps those should be updated too.

Also, SymPy's stuff at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_computer_algebra_systems should be updated. I did notice some of that is wrong.

Marking as Code-In medium difficulty because to really do a good job, you need to look into what the full feature set of all of SymPy is.

For updating the list of features, see issue 5869 . But there is more than just that that could be done in the Wikipedia article. For example, the screenshots/examples should be updated, and more detailed information in general could be added.

The SymPy Wikipedia page has got a lot better now, but it is still very laconic. Having more text both in the introduction and in the list of features would make it friendlier. I think this can be achieved by directly moving some text from the tutorial and the user's guide.

Also, I strongly believe that it would be a lot nicer to have usage examples intercalated among the features, so that the user can directly see how the enumerated features work.

Ideally, the Wikipedia page should become a document more or less independent from the tutorial and the user's guide.

I'll invest some time into improving the page in the next couple of days.

Awesome. Wikipedia is a starting point for information about anything these days, so having a good article is definitely a worthy thing.

Be sure to include citations if you take stuff from the docs. Having things well cited makes the article look more processional, and not just something that someone threw together one day.

So the Code-In task is

- Make sure the page is up-to-date. There were many features added since last year when this was last updated (from Code-In 2011).

- Add citations for major claims.

- Make sure examples are up-to-date. I know already that the plotting picture should be updated with the new module.

- Make sure that SymPy Live and SymPy Gamma are mentioned.

- Clean up the formatting as you see fit. Probably the Wikipedia style guides will be of help here.

Maybe we should try to get the article assessed ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team/Assessment ).
