Assumptions

All GCode files for your job have been generated and uploaded to Octoprint

Your machine does not have an adjustable Z axis

Steps

  1. Jog your laser to an area out of the way of where you will be placing your workpiece
  2. Place your workpiece
  3. Machine Home via Machine Home button
  4. Jog X/Y to the same starting point (Datum) you identified in your slicer in relation to the workpiece you've placed
  5. Select XY axis in the axis selection panel
  6. Set Working Plane Home/Origin (Crosshairs button below the axis selection panel) for XY
  7. Adjust your laser focus / z position manually (or via Z jogging if available)
  8. Machine Home via Machine Home button
  9. Working Plane Home your XY axes (home button in the middle of the jogging panel)
  10. Verify your starting point is in the same place you set it in 6. If it is wrong, go back to step 4
  11. (Optional) Use bgs's Framing tool to verify placement / alignment
  12. If changes are required go back to step 4
  13. Start your job

Some Notes

If you using Lightburn, I suggest using Current Position for your Start From setting. I have had mixed results setting it to User Origin. For reasons I'm not sure of, I've seen it add an offset of 10mm when User Origin is selected.
