Failed publishing woekbooks to server #6
Comments
Hi vizithiram, The Tableau Server publishing permissions can be a bit tricky. The easiest way to get Logshark publishing to work is to specify a Tableau Server "Site Administrator" account in your Logshark.config file. If you are using a Site Administrator and publishing still isn't working, we will probably need to peek at your Logshark log files to proceed. Let me know how it goes! |
I tried with a Site Admin account and still get the failed to publish error. Can I email the log files to you? |
Sure, I'm happy to take a peek. The only other thing I can think of is to check that the site you are trying to publish already exists (Logshark will not create the site for you). My email is jmangue@tableau.com |
I too am having a similar issue with not being able to publish. We use AD for managing our users. Is there a different configuration I should be using in my LogShark.config for the publishing to a Tableau Server configuration? |
Hi jschuhdodge, Sorry to hear you're having troubles. A couple things to try checking --

Justin,
Thanks for getting back to me. I double checked my settings and I did find I didn’t open up postgres to be used aside from localhost and I gave the full Tableau server name in the config and retried LogShark. This time it seemed to work – I will continue my testing, but I think I am good to go.
Thanks!
Jason

Subject: Re: [tableau/Logshark] Failed publishing woekbooks to server (#6)
Hi jschuhdodge,
Sorry to hear you're having troubles. A couple things to try checking --
1. Is the user set in your Logshark.config file a Site Admin on the site you're publishing to?
2. Does the site specified in your Logshark.config file already exist on the server?
3. Is the Tableau Server REST API enabled?
4. Has the user been created on the server? The Tableau Server REST API does not work with SAML single sign-on users. The publishing user should show up in Tableau Server's list of users on the site you're trying to publish to.

Glad to hear that! Happy Logsharking! 🦈 |
Whoops, closed this prematurely. vizithiriam, are you still having issues? |
Closing due to inactivity, please reopen if you need additional assistance. |
I'm able to run logshark and view the workbooks on the VM local machine. None of the workbooks were published to the server although a new project was created.
