In elinks, the option -localhost exists to restrict elinks to only local connections. Is there a similar option for w3m?

[edit] I'm currently getting around this by using -o use_proxy=1 -o http_proxy=localhost -o https_proxy=localhost, but a cleaner solution that doesn't rely on the absence of a local proxy would be great.

New option localhost_only is now available, use -o localhost_only=1
to restrict connections only to localhost.
