    _ CHAP. I. Of Baptiſme among the Jewes.

    • Sect. I. Probations more and leſs perfect. The uſe of Circumciſion to this queſtion of Paedobaptiſme. As alſo of Chriſt's reception of children. Childrens coming and believing, Mat. 18. Children ſinners.

    • Sect. 2. The neceſſity of Paedobaptiſme depending on the poſitive part of the probation. The ſeverall ſorts of Anabaptiſts. Teſtimonies the onely proof of Inſtitutions.

    • Sect. 3. The Jewes Baptiſme of natives as well as proſelytes. Teſtimonies of their writers in proof thereof. Baptiſme among the heathens taken from the Jewes. Among both from Noahs flood. The derivation of Chriſtian from Jewiſh Baptiſme how manifeſted. Chriſts anſwer to Nicodemus. Baptiſme 〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉 to the deluge. Gr. Nazianzen's and Macarius's teſtimonies. The Fathers meaning in affirming the Chriſtians baptiſme to be in ſtead of Circumciſion. The Lords Supper founded in the Jewes Poſtcoenium, yet in ſtead of their Paſſeover.

    • Sect. 4. The conceipts of Pe: Alfunſus and Schickard of the Iewiſh baptiſme. Raf: Alphus: Mr. T. his concluſion not inferred. The original of the Iewiſh Baptiſme (the onely doubt) vindicated. Iacob's injunction to his family. Sanctifications Exod. 19.10. differ from waſhing garments.

    • Sect. 5. Mr. Selden's notion of the Sea. The defence of my notion of it. Learned mens affirmations to be judged of by their teſtimonies. Chriſt's baptizing of Iewes as well as Gentiles, no argument. Chriſt's vouching Iohns baptiſme to be from heaven, no argument. No more, the pretended no intimations of it. The no conformity.     _ CHAP. II. Of Chriſt's words, Mat. 28.19.

    • Sect. 1. The Doctors pretended conceſſions examined. Chriſt's inſtitution of baptiſme not ſet down Mat. 28. but neceſſarily before that time.

    • Sect. 2. Making diſciples all one with receiving into diſcipleſhip. Baptizing the act of the Baptiſt. Inſtruction ſubſequent to diſcipling. The pretended parallel between Mat. 28. and Mar. 16.〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉 Johns diſcipling by preaching excludes not infants. No more the Apoſtles, Mat. 10.5.     • Sect. 3. Diſcipleſhip before inſtruction. What knowledge of the Maſter is required to diſcipleſhip. Two ſorts of diſciples, Some come, others are brought.

    • Sect. 4. The difference of a diſciple and proſelyte examined. Chriſtian as well as Jewiſh proſelytes, Priviledges of proſelytiſme, Diſciples of the Phariſees.     _ CHAP. III. Of the Apoſtolical practice in this matter.
