TexText 0.8beta1: When re-editing some TexText nodes produced with Inkscape 0.48.x and TexText 0.5.x (?) the color is lost. Setting the colors manually in Inkscape makes them appear again.
Reason: In the group attribute of the original svg node fill color is set to None. The children "overwrite" this by setting fill color to black. When re-editing the node TexText takes the style info from the group and applies it to all children (as a manually colorization does), so fill=None is passed to all children leading to the effect described above.
Proposed solution: Treat fill=None in group style as fill=black ?
