About The Pull Request

Abductors is one of my favourite midround antags, I've had notes about trying to make things personal and fun for players. But we have always had an ugly scar to the antag. The trauma removes the fun of the crew member interacting with others with their new organ and takes away from the fun of their random (Or custom if you do brainwashing surgery) new trait.

Why It's Good For The Game

This will put more focus on the organ and brainwashing that takes place to the abductees instead of "Oh I got a very annoying disability, I hope medbay doesn't fuck up my lobotomy." While I would personally rather remove the trauma altogether, I'm having this as a compromise as it doesn't run the risk of PERMANENT brain trauma if failed. My goal is to make it more fun with this tweak, for both the abductee and the abductor. I know I've felt genuinely defeated giving someone brainwashing to make them act socially different, just to see them get speech impediment and stuck that way for 15 minutes

i have read your reasoning and i did not find it compelling enough. there is a more interesting punishment for abductions than a brain trauma but this just removes that and turns it into a medbay trip

It's already a medbay trip, now it's just a less risky one.

Abductions leaving semi-permament scars is a deliberate design choice. Lobotomies are dangerous, because they can always roll something worse.

There might be an argument for letting abductors choose what trauma they inflict on people when they're returned though, but I don't think this is a good idea.

Kinda makes the entire focus on the lobotomy then doesn't it? If you're going to rush to medbay to get lobotomized then med will just, remove the organ while they're at it.

Having it leave a deep-rooted trauma is stupid. The "Ooh the Aliens did something weird to you" is in whatever objective they give you. Getting potentially rendered useless by a fucking ultra crippling trauma that can only be gotten by risking one of the three ones that are even worse will just kill it. People will probably just suicide or bumrush getting it fixed. There's nothing interesting or exciting or about it. It also removes the interest people have in trying to play with whatever they're conditioned into from it.

All fun of Abductors being in the round is gone, because of the traumas. Not every midround has to be "Kill immediately or the Station is fucked because 60% of the crew are killed or suicide", they can add to a round in interesting and exciting ways without doing that.
