Ie not while on battery.
Similar to current settting of only downloading new podcasts only on wifi.

Is this an issue? Downloading a podcast and writing it to the SD card on Wi-fi shouldn't be a significant use of power.

Well what if someone were using only 3g/4g to download podcasts as they
don't have WiFi. This does happen in many countries.
Many android phones also have pretty bad battery life so it is certainly a
concern also.
Also, fwiw many other podcast apps including Listen iirc have this feature.

Praveen Thirukonda.

I think there is something wrong in here (and in my issue #23). When we know that with every new checkbox in the configuration tab God kills a kitten, we should start thinking about too many options there. Could we get some better solution for these problems?

One thing which comes to my mind is that we could have some kind of "Easy Button" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NojiCsZQSr8) ... if you make this button visible (yes, that would be one option) you can manually invoke downloading of everything and purging played (and marked for deletion) issues. What about that?

I've gotten rid of the options having to do with headphones and bluetooth, but I may put one back because someone has the situation where their headphone jack is loose. Options aren't bad in the case where some users cannot use the default behavior.

...I really hope we can be rational and reasonable about the decision-making process.

What "better solution" do you propose? Inventing new battery technology?

This is an important option. My battery life is not great; sometimes it is very low before the end of my day. I certainly do not want my battery being used up downloading podcasts in my pocket. Downloading 20+MB podcasts over whatever wifi connection I happen to be on can take a long time (my university's Internet connection is usually clogged), and that keeps the phone in wakelock, which runs down the battery. I do not need them to be constantly updated throughout the day. When I "put my phone to bed" at night, that is a good time to do it.

Please add this setting. It's a standard setting in apps like this, and for good reason. This is neither Apple nor GNOME; this is Android, where the idea is to put users in control, and options are a good thing.
