Thank you @KirstieJane! All very useful feedbacks. I have moved one required skill to optional as most technical writers might be working on data science for the first time. Are you happy for me to submit this now?

Ah - sorry - I hadn't clicked on the submission form link..... This document doesn't follow the same structure - can we fix forwards and structure this document to reflect the survey? https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScewI8Zbg9DbBDlkll0hE6m6BgFkrRJOAu8E6WihrO6fJZKPA/viewform

I also disagree with research experience being an optional skill.....I feel like it would be unlikely that an applicant who didn't have any collaborative working experience on data questions would be able to do the work.... Can you imagine a persona who could?

As per the GSoD website, I think the GSoD will do the first pass on the technical writer's selection: https://developers.google.com/season-of-docs/docs/tech-writer-guide. This should ensure that the folks coming in will be technical writer, maybe not with prior experience of working with community like ours but with good understanding of how our content should look like.
