An Android (4.1 or newer) device with bluetooth. Most of the code could easily be ported to earlier versions of Android. Root access is not required for basic functionality, but is needed for some advanced features.

An inexpensive bluetooth ELM327 based OBD2 adapter. Note that many of the cheapest eBay clones do not implement every protocol correctly. This one seems to work well.

A compatible vehicle. The default config will work on many Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge vehicles from the late 90's through mid 2000's, specifically those with the SAE J1850 VPW based PCI Bus. It could also work with nearly any modern vehicle but will require correct configuration.
