Leadership Group

The PHP League started as a group of friends who wanted to release code under a shared namespace. Since then we've grown in size as much as we've grown in popularity. Now with over 26 packages from 20 members spread all over the globe (some of whom do not know each other personally), a more formal organization structure was needed. The Leadership Group is a first step in that direction.

Current Members

Responsibilities

The Leadership Group will be available on Twitter for Project Leads, both new and potential to help with various admin related tasks, such as:

  • Providing initial response and feedback to new requests to join the league.
  • Managing GitHub Teams
  • Adding / Modifying DNS records for Subdomains
  • Travis CI setup
  • Tweeting announcements or anything else

If a developer decides to bring a package to the League, a member of the Leadership Group will take responsibility for that project, and be made available to help out. They will not interfere with the Project Leads, who still get to do their thing. They're just here to help with the transition.

If the maintainer of a package decides for any reason that they no longer want to maintain it, the Leadership Group will assist in finding a new maintainer, if the original owner would like to leave their package with the League. If a new owner cannot be found within a reasonable timeframe, the project will be moved to the Cemetery, until a new Project Lead turns up, or they might decide to maintain it themselves.

Joining the Leadership

Right now six seems like enough, so we aren't trying to grow the group. If one of the Leadership Group has to step down, then we'll ask around on the mailing list for anyone who feels up to the challenge and is able to make the commitment.
