abandoned method of development branch naming

this is the last commit for branch0.6; the latest development will now
be on the "develop" branch with topic (new feature, function, change,
etc.) branches off of the "develop" branch, and when complete will be
merged back into the "develop" branch (using the no fast forward
option), or will be abandoned with an empty commit (like this one)
explaining the reason; when preparing for a release, a "releaseX.X"
branch will be made off of the "develop" branch where there will be a
commit to update the version number, possible commits for clean up (fix
spacing, comments, etc.), commits for any bug fixes the may be found
during testing on the different platforms, and finally will be merged
into the "master" branch (no fast forward option and tagged for the
release (same vX.X.X format)
