this clearly is a macOS issue when trying to flash (only write!). At least users should be warned or GitHub code should be updated. Sadly I have no programming skills so I can only help answering more detailed questions about my setup and testing if anyone has a solution...
As I often have profited from GitHub and open source codes I got from here, I would at least be pleased to help any programmer to find a solution!
