2 March 2024 Bugfix Update

Fixes

  • Fix Cair Andros siege collision/barriers
  • Fix collision and material settings for Grey Mountains Hold tower
  • Allow beserker trait in sea battle mission; fade out agents that fall overboard; add a distance check to enemy spawns, so they don't spawn right to the player
  • Adjust lord escape chance for "capture lord" quest for better scaling with prisoner management skill
  • Add Radagast, taking Gandalf's part in northern theaters
  • Make sure Gandalf always leaves after "don't make me late" talk

Gameplay & Fixes

  • Fix to agents despawning in sieges due to WSE2
  • Limit defender reinforcements if player is attacker, so sieges don't drag on; also disable attacker fadeout for player agent
  • Fix to capturing tribal orcs
  • Make troll pushback rarer
  • Add Radagast, taking Gandalf's part in northern theaters

Scenes

  • New Dunland Camp scene and siege
  • Add animated town workers, training soldiers and other ambience improvements in a number of scenes
  • Scene gameplay improvements: Khand siege, Goblin Town siege, Moria dungeon scenes

FormAI

  • Fix a few instances of suicidal charging in TLDFormAI, improve behavior for "no formation" factions; other possible bug fixes
  • Fix order menu for NewFormAI, prevent conflicts with battle menu
  • Add support for horse archers in NewFormAI, also improve regular cavalry AI
  • Fix two causes for senseless charges in NewFormAI

  • Completely overhaul Isengard Last Stand quest
  • Rebalance some Rohan troops and items
  • increase number of sold goods for factions that have only one center
  • Disable resource point cap, increase faction gift amounts
  • Add prisoners escaping mechanic
  • Enable enhanced combat AI for heroes in sieges
  • rebalance Isengard reinforcement templates
  • Assign surgery to all lords for more realistic k/w ratio in autocalc

  • Add the Harad sword scabbards by Giles.
  • Improve Saruman's robe texture.
  • Make the Sword of Eorl two-handed.
  • Fix the black screens on macOS and Linux, where after playing for a while textures would corrupt and the player would be unable to load or save their progress, forcing a game restart. This was caused by the game ending up having too many opened files because it forgets to close the streamed sounds after reading them, reaching the OS limit. Most of this investigation, reporting and testing has been contributed by null-painter-error on Discord. Many thanks!
  • Update the translations with the latest content from Transifex. Including tr, de, it, pl, cz, ko, th, uk and ru.

  • Inventory Management turned into party skill, also reduces food consumption
  • New formula for morale penalty from party size
  • Implement basic desertion system based on party morale and player leadership
  • Overhaul orc mutiny chance calculations, now based on party morale; give orc pretender enhanced combat AI
  • Review troop hiring and selling prices
  • Overhaul battle coherence system, making it more dynamic

[*] Fix broken shaders. e.g. glitchy overall map terrain.
[*] Revamp the macOS install method; from now on we will patch the official Warband game binary's code to fix many of this version's bugs. This universal method should improve compatibility by acting on the root cause and let you switch between mods. (i.e. everyone's fonts and Data folder should work after this)
[*] Expand the macOS install guide to let people remove custom fonts here and on Linux, both versions share shaders.
[*] The patch also improves graphics by forcing the game to use a 32-bit depth buffer (objects far away won't flicker anymore) and gets rid of the sharp discontinuities as textures blur in the distance, now there's feature parity with Windows, it has a soft transition.
[*] No more workarounds.
