@surma - would this be the font or the layout in the editor? I don't know enough about the internals of font design to know if it's possible to selectively adjust "/*" kerning in JavaDoc mode (or whatever it's called).

This is a plus to having terrible eyesight, I can't see it :-)

I am pretty sure the ligature in the font needs adjustment to correct this

This… doesn’t actually fix the issue. The closing */ is still misaligned, and for non-documentation block comments the opening asterisk is still misaligned.

I think instead of removing the ligatures the right solution would be just re-align them, but I am not particularly attached to these ligatures either and as the other issue discusses they can make paths weird.
