Profile metadata is usually displayed on a side bar with little horizontal space. Yet, long content has no line breaks and is instead cut off. On desktop, this is annoying, but I can still read the values because the full text is shown as tooltip when hovering. On mobile, I have no such options. I simply can't read somebody else's profile on my phone.

Expected behaviour

It is easy to fully read somebody's profile, including the metadata table.

Actual behaviour

The content gets ellipted after as little as 25 characters, potentially without the possibility to read the full phrase.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Find a Mastodon profile that uses profile metadata with longer lines.

Specifications

  • Mastodon v3.3.0 (probably affects multiple versions)
  • This is a front-end issue, which I can reproduce across browsers, operating systems and devices.

Removing the max-height from the CSS here does allow the text box to expand, though given that overflow was explicitly set to hidden in the same place, I'm guessing that there was some intentional design decision behind not showing the full text. No idea what it was, though.
