Either muting isn't working properly, or it's unclear what it's supposed to do.

On Twitter, if I mute an account, I won't see anything in my notifications list when they tweet at me.

On Mastodon, I've muted somebody, but their tweets at me have not disappeared from my notifications.

Ah, someone has helpfully informed me of the "mastoguide" website which explains things
