Just now proof-of-concept and educational project to implement network library for browser-side JavaScript.
Java applet through LiveConnect is used as transport for now. Maybe more transports will be added in the future.
Net.JS is inspired by Node.js net module (and I want it to be fully compatible) and Socket.IO.
The project is under development right now and is not ready for any use except experiments. There's much to do and I hope one day it'll become an useful project :)
- Node.js-compatible API
- Cross-domain support (for signed applets)
- Chromium (Linux)
- Firefox (Linux)
- Oracle JVM 1.6.0u24 (x86_64, Ubuntu 11.04) works fine
- IcedTea 1.1 currently isn't supported due to its bugs
